“If you want to identify me, ask me not where I live, or what I like to eat, or how I comb my hair, but ask me what I am living for, in detail, ask me what I think is keeping me from living fully for the thing I want to live for.” -Thomas Merton
This caught my attention while stumbling around blogs this evening. I think of myself as a story collector. Wish I could figure out a way to spend the rest of my life talking to people and making money from it. Oh wait, that’s called therapy. I believe that we can learn from everyone. We all have stories to tell. Some people might think that I am nosey and that I ask too many questions. Which is probably the case. Awkward silence makes me squirm, and I don’t like taking about myself. It’s easier to listen to others talk. Also in general people like to talk about themselves. It’s perfect because I like to listen. This quote caught my attention because the deeper questions are the ones that interest me the most.
I think that account planning might be the place for me…
This weekend: Meet someone new and listen to their stories. Go.
